I really enjoyed this film - thanks for the post.

I liked when he first got married, he locked himself in a hallway closet and wrote "Waiting Around to Die" (!)

Such a beautiful post and gathering of stills, D! Truly... Scene seventh from the bottom is so affecting, isn’t it? Hooray for Texans. ;-)

hi k ! thank you - i'm so glad you like the post, the 7th image from the bottom is such a beautiful moment - good ole uncle seymour is really feeling the emotion from townes.
yeah, you get both the worst and the best coming out of texas. the worst is just downright depressing. but townes is one of those gems that would clearly be the best - a great songwriter and poet in addition to his virtuosic guitar playing. seems a good number of great music comes flowing out of texas, whether they stay there or not.

That scene with ole uncle seymour was also in Heartworn Highways which I got by accident a few years ago on dvd. It's also a wonderful flick. Less meta-narrative, more document.
